Creative Curiosities
Landing on the soil
Feet damp and uncertain
The endless pathways ahead
promises of enchantment
a moment to pause
to bleed
regather and enter creation
deeply rooted in the things we cannot see
and grounding in what we can feel
the touch of a bumpy pinecone
the tickle of delicate hairy grass
the itch of something being there
perhaps a ladybug singing blessings
or a weaving magical energy that blesses my brain with ideas and endless curiosities
Just a dancer?
I am a dance artist yes, but above all a human navigating her way through the world and the experiences along the way. I frequently tune in to my body to notice sensations or shift my energy. My current morning movement check- ins allow me the time and space to be present noticing different rhythms: gentle rocks, continuous circles, hugs and closing movements, shaking, stillness or an energising bounce. This is sometimes followed by intuitive drawing and journaling reflecting the movement, my body or thoughts.
In 2025 I was selected for an artist development programme with the amazing company Tangled Feet. Included in this pivotal programme was paid artist days: a chance to experiment and explore. What I found was that my body was wanting to process experiences through more than dance. I've grown endlessly curious about movement across art disciplines, the rhythm of embroidery, push through, pull and come back through; the slow, stirring and non toxic elements of natural dying and through reading back past writing - I find there is a flow and cathartic expression.
What I am searching for next is to find ways to become an interdisciplinary artist weaving all these art forms together. Finding how they connect and finding more voice and discussions. I wonder how these can come together into visual art, capturing moments of ever shifting inner and outer cycles, seasons, movement, feelings and textures. I am interested in how to get back to honouring menstrual cycles, periods of rest, renewal, sharing and shredding - things that also happen in nature. I have grown a deeper connection to nature and cycles from going to a women's circles and wanting to create more cyclical living for myself to enhance my wellbeing. I wonder how I can weave art and nature together to coincide with my cycles (menstruation) in hopes that I can also continue to listening and understand my whole body and the world around me better. I hope to share this journey with others, help lead and guide and express.
My art is for expression, for wellbeing and the process of creating and for being kind and curious with self-enquiry.
